On Monday evening, the Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioner Tracey Onslow were live on Facebook for 45 minutes, putting the public’s questions around budget to West Mercia Chief Constable Anthony Bangham and Deputy Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman.
More than 1600 people watched the event, filmed in Hereford’s Shire Hall, as questions submitted both in advance and during the livestream were covered.
Commissioner John Campion said “There was an excellent response from the public, asking some very relevant questions, and a great opportunity to address these in an open and transparent way.
I understand the publics need to see police in their communities and for them to be as visible and accessible as possible. The investments I’ve made to increase policing numbers and invest in technology which allows officers to spend more time out and about in communities are helping to deliver this. As I begin to shape the budget for the coming year, the questions, comments and feedback from the public will be key, in ensuring this is reflective of what our communities want and need.”
