The North Worcestershire Hate Incident Partnership have been delivering a number of activities to raise awareness of how to recognise a Hate Crime and encourage members of the public to report incidents whether they are a victim, a witness or third party.
There were pop-up shops in Bromsgrove, Redditch and Kidderminster to inform the public about what a Hate Crime is, how it can be reported and what support is available to victims and witnesses. The pop-up shops were supported by Zoe Haworths Theatre Company, a theatre company commissioned to deliver interactive drama performances throughout the days. The North Worcestershire events have been funded by a grant from the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Alongside the pop-up shops, the Partnership also distributed information and free wristbands to members of the public. The wristbands contain messages about reporting Hate Crime, as well as an attached information card about how to report an incident. Display stands raising awareness were set up in reception areas, across high schools and electronic screens.
